Villa Huertas is a tranquil sanctuary in the midst of San Miguel’s vibrant center. It is a compound of villas located in the heart of the historic centro, in beautiful San Miguel de Allende, an UNESCO-declared World Heritage City. The Villa is located on Calle Huertas, a quiet street within the legendary historic center, it is like stepping back in time, only a few steps from the main square.

The property is composed of (3) one-single units and (2) two-bedroom ﬂats, with some of the units sharing a common roof top. The house and units are tastefully decorated with a modern accent, while keeping to its local design quality. The house can be rented entirely as a single property for a special event or each ﬂat can be rented separately. The design respected some of the ancient walls of the original historic dwelling, exquisitely combining modern and the old design aspects. Each Casita is fully furnished and equipped.

The Murals of Villa Huertas

Hi! My name is Yazmín Obregón Prescott

I am a mexican muralist. I was born and raised here in San Miguel de Allende. My whole environment
was very artistic; my mom is a painter, my dad an architect, and even my grandfather was a muralist. At primary school we had an amazing art
teacher, that taught us the “bellas artes”. The town itself invites people to get creative.

My favorite projects so far are murals, because of the enormous canvas with endless possibilities. There is a feeling of freedom. Art is not only
what I do, but how I communicate and express myself, it is my passion.

Sleeping beauty is the first mural we created. My thought process went into an airbnb in San Miguel de Allende, which translated into sleeping in
a magical place.

We now have a sleeping beauty in a otomi world, with a hint of the Parroquia on the background. It is from a point of view as if you’re resting beside her, the columns are transformed into the trees that are based on Villa Huertas logo and extend into the ceiling (there are no limits for paint 😉 ). And finally the color palette is autumn, since it is a dark tunnel, the darkest color was brown.

Each mural got bigger and bigger. The biggest one yet was around discovering/traveling in México. We wanted to make some depth, but still have
very warm colors in it, with greens, and a touch of of purple to marry it to the first mural. And throughout the three murals we have the otomi
figures and the logo of the tree. For this mural we have the traveler, looking into a corner that lets you see a pyramid with the ghost of
the quetzalcoatl.

. A huerta can be an orhcard or vegetabe garden. I wanted to have a
feeling of a vast space, a landscape as a background of a countryside with mountains. Again using the pillars as logo trees, and more otomi animals.
Giving it a touch of mexico with the Mayahuel which is the goddess of the maguey (cactus plant, that she has as a crown). All in a muted pallete
that goes with the environment. And a space for interaction with the mural for photos.
